BIBLE LESSON / STORY:
- YOM KIPPUR is a Holy Day for God’s people to remember He made atonement for our sins. SIN is when we disobey. Sin makes everyone feel sad. ATONEMENT means BLOOD was shed to cover sins. The Blood of the Lamb was shed in the Old Testament. But when Jesus died, there was a New Covenant… His blood washed sins away once and for all! Oh, happy day when Jesus washed our sins away!
- Read: Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden by LDF PDF
- We have all disobeyed God’s laws. God says the blood of Jesus washes our sins away so we can be forgiven. Thank You, JESUS!
PRAYER:
- Think of a time when you disobeyed your parents (sinned). Tell God you are sorry for disobeying (CONFESSION). Ask Him to help you listen and obey (REPENTANCE).
- We need to tell God we are sorry for disobeying. We also need to tell our parents we are sorry. They are happy to forgive us and help us do what is right. We feel happy when we obey!
- Blessing over students: “Father, Your Word is True. Your Laws are right. Teach us to love and obey your Words.”
PLAY IN CENTERS:
- Release the children one at a time to get their play cards and choose a center
- Call the children one at a time to work on the art project: Belt of Truth
1 MINUTE WARNING:
- Set a timer to indicate the end of PLAY TIME. Tell the students they have 1 more minute to finish playing (students CANNOT switch centers once the timer has sounded.
CLEAN-UP:
Students must tidy up the centers where they were playing when the timer rang. Teachers/Helpers oversee this activity. Students learn to sort and return items to their proper place. In so doing, they are learning to take care of the classroom. It also helps them be prepared for dismissal. Once the centers are tidy, students move to the BOOK NOOK and quietly look at books.
BOOK NOOK / GAME:
If parents have not arrived after 5 minutes at the BOOK NOOK, lead the children in a circle game (such as bean bag toss)
DISMISSAL:
Assign an adult to greet parents/guardians.
Call students ONE AT A TIME when families arrive. Prompt the remaining student to call out, “GOODBYE (student’s name).”
