Come and get ready for HIM!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Many people stopped what they were doing and came to the river to repent (say sorry to God) and be baptized (Use *Children\u2019s Self Portrait Pieces to give examples of what it means to repent).<\/li>\n<li><u><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Girl<\/span> Self Portrait #1<\/strong>:<\/u> \u201cI want to tell God I\u2019m sorry for my sin. My mom asked me to stop playing and put my toys away. I said no. \u00a0I had to go in time out. God, I\u2019m sorry for disobeying my mom. Please forgive me and help me to obey my parents.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>God forgives you when you tell Him you\u2019re sorry for your sin.<\/li>\n<li>Girl: \u201cThank you for forgiving me, God. \u00a0Change my heart and make it new.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the Girl being baptized. \u201cGod loves you. \u00a0He is pleased with you. I told my parents a lie. \u00a0I said my brother broke it, but I broke it! God, I\u2019m sorry for telling a lie. Please forgive me and help me always tell the truth.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>God forgives you when you tell Him you\u2019re sorry for your sin.<\/li>\n<li>Boy: \u201cThank you for forgiving me, God. \u00a0Change my heart and make it new.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate Boy being baptized.\u00a0 \u201cGod loves you. \u00a0He is pleased with you. Now go and tell the truth!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Some of the temple rulers came to the river. \u00a0But they did not want to say sorry to God for their sin. \u00a0They thought they were good enough by themselves. \u00a0John called them poisonous snakes.<\/li>\n<li>People must tell God they are sorry because everyone has sinned. If we say we have not sinned, we are lying. \u00a0The temple rulers went away with sinful hearts. They did not get ready for the Mighty One who was coming!<\/li>\n<li>Then <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Jesus<\/span> came to the river. \u00a0But Jesus was the Son of God. \u00a0He was like us in every way except He had never sinned. \u00a0He always obeyed His Heavenly Father. So He did not need to say sorry for sin. \u201cBaptize Me anyway, John. \u00a0I want to show people the right thing to do if they want to please God.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>So John put Jesus down under the water. Something amazing happened when JESUS came up out of the water. \u00a0The Spirit of God came down out of heaven like a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">dove<\/span> and rested on Jesus! \u00a0\u00a0And suddenly, a voice from heaven said, \u201cThis is My beloved Son. \u00a0I am very pleased with Him!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Then John realized that <strong>JESUS was the MIGHTY ONE<\/strong>. \u00a0Jesus had the power to wash and change hearts by His Holy Spirit. \u00a0He would make hearts new and help people do what was right. John called Jesus, \u201cThe Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>JESUS is the MIGHTY ONE!
