BIBLE LESSON:

Review the lesson on The 10 Commandments:

  • Who wrote the 10 Commandments? (GOD)
  • Are His Laws good or mean? (Good and Right…They give us joy in our hearts. Ps 19:8)
  • Can you summarize the 10 Commandments into 2 Laws? (Love God with all your heart / Love each other)
  • How do the 10 Commandments protect us? (They protect our hearts and minds from the lies of the sneaky snake)

Review the lesson on the Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness:

  • Who was trying to trick Jesus? (satan)
  • How did satan try to trick Jesus? (with lies)
  • What happens when someone listens to satan? (Destruction/Death)
  • Jesus had to decide who He would listen to… God the Father OR the sneaky snake! Who did Jesus always obey? (God the Father)
  • What happens when someone listens to God (LIFE…ABUNDANT LIFE)
  • Jesus taught us how to say no to satan’s lies. What did Jesus teach us to do? (Jesus spoke the true WORD OF GOD whenever satan spoke lies)

TRUTH OR LIE CHALLENGE: pdf

Let’s practice identifying the truth in each of these challenges (think up enough challenges so each child can have a turn):

  • God’s Laws are mean OR God’s Laws are right and good
  • The Sword is for the protection of our hearts and minds OR The Sword is for fighting each other
  • Words are powerful OR Words are weak
  • I will have ABUNDANT LIFE  when I do what I want OR I will have ABUNDANT LIFE when I listen to God
  • God’s Words are True OR Satan’s words are true
  • I can be strong all by myself OR I need God’s help to be strong

CLEAN-UP:

Students must tidy up the centers where they were playing when the timer rang. Teachers/Helpers oversee this activity.  Students learn to sort and return items to their proper place.  In so doing, they are learning to take care of the classroom.  It also helps them be prepared for dismissal.  Once the centers are tidy, students move to the BOOK NOOK and quietly look at books.
