GOD WENT WITH ABRAM TO A NEW LAND

 

PRAISE AT THE GATES:

  • Today is the last class for this school year. some of us (children who are finished Kindergarten) will be moving on to a NEW CLASS after summer vacation. They will be in Grade 1 at school, and they will be in GO FISH at church.
  • Do they need to be afraid of a new class? NO! Because God goes with them!
  • Read and clap each word: GOD GOES WITH ME! (everywhere this summer, and to my new class in the fall).

BIBLE STORY OUTLINE: 

  • ABRAHAM RESOURCE BOX:

  • God made a promise to Abram… ‘Follow Me to a new land and I will bless you.  I have GOOD THINGS FOR YOU, ABRAM’!
  • Abram said YES to God.  He packed up his belongings and went on a journey with the LORD.
  • Then the LORD told Abram, ‘Lift up your eyes and look in every direction.  I’m giving all this land to you and to your children.  And I will make your family SO BIG you won’t be able to count them all!  Arise, Abram.  Walk through the land… I’m giving it to you!’
  • Abram got up and walked through the land.  He moved his tent.  And he built an altar to the LORD to say, ‘THANK-YOU, LORD GOD. You are good.  I trust in You!’

 

DISCUSSION / COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS:

  • Talk about how Abram might have felt when God told him to leave his home and pitch his tent in a new land.
  • What did God promise Abram? (BLESSINGS…inherit the land)

 

PRAYER ACTIVITY:

  • God has good things for us, too.  He says “Follow Me and I will bless you.”
  • Wherever we go in THIS place, in our church (Wellspring), God goes with us.  He will lead us.  He’s calling us to GROW with Him.
  • We ARE growing!  Some of us will keep growing in the Well Diggers classroom for another year.  But some of us are moving on… to a new class.  After summer vacation, when our Kindergarten friends begin Grade One, they will also begin GO FISH upstairs.  So let’s go for a walk together and bless what God is doing here, in this place…
  • OPTIONAL AS TIME PERMITS: Line the kids up for a prayer walk.  Hand out paper tent visuals to the Grads (they will stick them on the wall outside GO FISH) Lead the Children to the outer area of GO FISH.  Ask them to close their eyes and imagine the good things that God is doing with the GO FISH children.  What do they imagine. Call God’s blessings forth on the WD Grads and the other big kids.  Grads leave their tent visuals on the wall (moving their tents). Lead the Children to the outer area of KINGDOM KIDS.  Tell them that God will be leading some of the little children to our WELL DIGGER classroom this fall.  Ask the children to pray for them… that they would be excited to come and that God would have good things ready for them.  Call His blessings forth on the little kids.
  • Pray a blessing over the class for the summer vacations and the GOOD THINGS GOD HAS FOR US!
